Wired, and that is the point
Nothing to pair, nothing to charge, nothing to lose down the side of a seat. Plug them into the USB-C port and they work, on an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac.
The remote does the work
Volume up and down, play and pause, and answer or end a call, all from the button on the cable. The microphone is built into the same remote.
The shape people got used to
The EarPods shape was designed around the geometry of the ear rather than a round plug pushed into it, so they sit in place without sealing you off from the room.
The pair that lives in the bag
Most people who own wireless earphones still keep a wired pair for the day the case comes out flat, for a long call, or for handing to someone in a meeting.
